Dreams Alive – Boundaries & Scope of Coaching
Purpose
This statement clarifies what coaching with Dreams Alive is and is not, so clients can make informed choices and feel safe, respected, and supported within clear professional boundaries.
What Coaching Is
Coaching at Dreams Alive is a collaborative, reflective, and forward-focused process designed to support:
● Self-awareness and identity exploration
● Values clarification and alignment
● Personal growth and capacity building
● Decision-making and life transitions
● Accountability and intentional action
Coaching honors the belief that clients already have inner wisdom, and the role of the coach is to support insight, clarity, and empowered choice.
What Coaching Is Not
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, counselling, medical care, or crisis support.
Specifically, coaching does not include:
● Diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
● Trauma processing or therapeutic intervention
● Medical, legal, or financial advice
● Crisis management or emergency support
The coach does not assess, diagnose, or treat mental illness.
Coaching Style & Language (What to Expect)
Dreams Alive coaching is relational, direct, and occasionally provocative in service of insight and growth. This may include the intentional use of strong language, humour, or bold questions to interrupt patterns, surface truth, or invite reflection.
This approach is never intended to demean, shame, or harm. Consent, respect, and emotional safety remain central to the coaching relationship.
Clients are always welcome to name if a particular style of language or intervention feels uncomfortable. Feedback is respected, and adjustments can be made when appropriate.
By proceeding with coaching, clients acknowledge and consent to this coaching style.
This coaching style does not override the Harassment & Abusive Behaviour Policy, which applies to all interactions.
Client Responsibility
Clients are responsible for:
● Determining whether coaching is appropriate for their needs
● Seeking additional professional support when needed
● Communicating openly if something feels unclear or uncomfortable
Coaching works best when clients engage with honesty, self-reflection, and care for their own wellbeing.
When Additional Support Is Needed
If concerns arise that fall outside the scope of coaching, Dreams Alive may:
● Pause coaching conversations
● Encourage seeking additional or alternative support
● Offer referrals to appropriate professionals when possible
This is done with respect, care, and the client’s wellbeing in mind.
Safety & Emergencies
Dreams Alive does not provide crisis or emergency services.
If you are experiencing:
● Thoughts of self-harm
● Emotional crisis
● Immediate safety concerns
Please contact local emergency services or a crisis support line in your area.
Professional Boundaries
To protect the integrity of the coaching relationship:
● Sessions remain within agreed time boundaries
● Communication outside sessions follows clear expectations
● Policies regarding scheduling, refunds, and onboarding are upheld consistently
These boundaries support a respectful and sustainable coaching container.
Relationship to Other Policies
This statement works alongside:
● Client Onboarding Policy
● Scheduling Policy
● Refund Policy
● Pricing & Packages
If questions arise, written policies take precedence.
